Meet Spencer

Owner and operator Spencer Azar is a Sarasota native, lifelong boater, licensed USCG Master Captain, firefighter, and paramedic with 27+ years of fire department experience. Much of that time has been spent captaining a fireboat in local Gulf Coast waters, where calm decision-making, attention to detail, and reliable communication matter every day.

Spencer was raised around boats and the Florida lifestyle, where time on the water was simply part of growing up. From an early age, he developed a love for boating, fishing, scuba diving, the outdoors, and all things coastal. That connection continues to shape both his personal life and professional approach, including a strong respect for marine conservation, coastal protection, and the natural beauty of Florida’s Gulf Coast.

Away from work, Spencer enjoys traveling with his wife and three sons, especially to places connected to the water, nature, culture, and adventure.

First Look Marine Services grew naturally from years of helping local boaters, brokers, buyers, and their clients better understand the vessels in front of them. What began as practical guidance and informal inspections developed into a business built on reliability, professionalism, thorough documentation, and real-world marine experience.

Through years of fireboat operations, Spencer has handled vessels in challenging conditions and understands the importance of staying steady under pressure. Today, he brings that same practical, steady approach to helping clients evaluate, move, sea trial, and better understand their boats.

The goal is simple: provide honest observations, clear communication, and dependable support so clients can make informed decisions and move forward with confidence.

A person wearing a straw hat and dark clothing sits on a wooden bench by the beach, facing the ocean, with their arms stretched out on either side. The bench has writing on it, which appears to say "MATAPALO PURA VIDA." There is a tree with green leaves and a trunk in the foreground to the right. The beach has sand with scattered leaves and driftwood, and the ocean has gentle waves with a cloudy sky above.
